Teenage Pregnancy

The trend in the number of adolescents (10 –19 years) presenting with pregnancy at first Ante-Natal Care (ANC) visit for the period
2017 to 2021 is presented in Figures below. The number of adolescents presenting with pregnancy at first ANC visit declined
nationally by 4.4 per cent to 317.6 thousands in 2021 compared with a decline of 16.3 per cent decline realised in 2020. The
number of adolescents of age 15 -19 years presenting with pregnancy at first Ante-Natal Care (ANC) visit declined to 294,292
while those aged 10-14 years increased from 17,467 in 2020 to 23,290 in 2021.

Morbidity

Table Below presents outpatient disease caseloads during the period 2017 to 2021 as reported in health facilities. The total cases
of diseases reported in health facilities increased by 57.2 per cent from 60.0 million in 2020 to 94.3 million in 2021. Diseases of the
respiratory system and malaria accounted for 21.9 per cent and 15.2 per cent of the total disease caseload, in 2021 respectively.
The increase in the number of cases reported in the year 2021 indicates a recovery in the uptake of health services from health
facilities compared to the year 2020.
